Getting Started
How do I create my first project?
To create a new project, tap the "+" button on the main screen, enter your project name and client information, then tap "Save". You can also set an hourly rate and add project notes.
How do I start tracking time?
Select a project from your list and tap the play button to start tracking. You can add notes during or after your time session. Tap the stop button when you're finished.
Can I track time for multiple projects simultaneously?
Currently, HourStream supports tracking time for one project at a time to ensure accuracy. You'll need to stop the current timer before starting a new one.
Timesheets & Reports
How do I generate a timesheet?
Go to the Reports tab, select your date range and projects, then tap "Generate Timesheet". You can export as PDF, CSV, or share directly via email.
Can I customize my timesheet format?
Yes! In Settings > Timesheet Options, you can customize the format, include or exclude specific fields, add your company logo, and choose from different layouts.
What date ranges are available for reports?
You can generate reports for today, yesterday, this week, last week, this month, last month, or any custom date range you specify.
Invoicing
How do I create an invoice from my time data?
In the Invoices section, tap "New Invoice", select the project and time period, review the automatically calculated totals, add any additional charges, and generate your invoice.
Can I add expenses to my invoices?
Yes, you can add one-time expenses, recurring charges, and tax information to any invoice before sending it to your client.
What invoice formats are supported?
Invoices can be exported as PDF files or sent directly via email. You can also print them directly from your iOS device.
Data & Sync
Is my data backed up automatically?
Yes, your data is automatically backed up to iCloud if you have iCloud enabled on your device. You can also manually export your data at any time.
Can I access my data on multiple devices?
With iCloud sync enabled, your data will automatically sync across all your iOS devices logged into the same Apple ID.
How do I export my data?
Go to Settings > Data Export to export your complete data in CSV or JSON format. You can email the export file or save it to your Files app.
Troubleshooting
The timer stopped working properly
Try force-closing and reopening the app. If the issue persists, restart your device. Make sure you have the latest version of HourStream installed.
My data isn't syncing between devices
Check that iCloud is enabled in Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud, and that HourStream has permission to use iCloud. Also ensure you're connected to the internet.
I accidentally deleted a project
Deleted projects can be recovered from Settings > Trash for up to 30 days. If it's been longer, contact support - we may be able to help restore from your iCloud backup.
